Dear  $FIRST_NAME$

I am delighted to share some exciting updates from our Club.

Firstly, we are proud to announce a significant community initiative: a total of $60,000 in joint funding over three years from Bendigo Community Bank Blackburn South and The Rotary Club of Box Hill Central. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to reimagine the traditional Men’s Shed into a vibrant, inclusive Community Hub — a welcoming space where men, women, boys, and girls can connect, create, and contribute together, while continuing to provide essential services to men in need across our city.

Many thanks to the leadership from our Community Chair, Malcolm Chiverton, and support from club member Diane Fisher, along with all others who contributed to making this possible.

Looking ahead, please mark your calendars for several important upcoming events:

  • District 9815 Year 10 Four-Way Test Public Speaking Contest – Tuesday, 11th November Starts at 6:30 pm. $12.50 entry, refreshments provided. Bar open.  There will be no morning meeting on Wednesday 12th. Join us as we support and celebrate young leaders in our community.

  • International Women’s Breakfast 2026 – Wednesday, 4th March 2026
Officially launched! All proceeds will support Tradeswomen Australia. Please save the date — more details soon.

We also farewell our charter member Craig, whose last official meeting was on 29 October. Over 36 years, Craig’s warmth and dedication have left a lasting mark on our Club. He is transferring his membership to Rotary Club of Seymour due to family relocation, and while we will greatly miss his presence, we wish him every success in his new community.

farewell dinner will be held at Dumpling King (572 Station Street, Box Hill) at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, 18th November. All members and friends are welcome to join. Register here

Let’s continue to stay engaged, support one another, and make a positive difference in our community. Together, we embody the true spirit of Rotary — service, fellowship, and impact.

Warm regards,
Wendy Zhang

Exciting Partnership with healthAbility, Bendigo Community Bank Blackburn South and RCBHC.

We are thrilled to announce a joint funding partnership between Bendigo Community Bank Blackburn South and The Rotary Club of Box Hill Central, contributing $20,000 per year for three consecutive years — a total of $60,000— to support the programming transformation of the healthAbility Men’s Shed into a Community Space at the new Dunlavin Rd address.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy to reimagine the traditional Men’s Shed into a vibrant, inclusive Community Space — a welcoming space where men, women, boys, and girls can connect, create, and contribute together.

The Community Space will serve as a cornerstone for engagement across a diverse community landscape, embracing intergenerational households, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, vulnerable youth, women, First Nations people, community groups, and schools.

In the meantime, to ensure the continued strong services to men in need in the city, existing Men's Shed programs and activities will continue without interruption.

This achievement is made possible thanks to the leadership of Community Chair Malcolm Chiverton and the support of club member Diane Fisher, along with the contributions of many others.

This transformation reflects our shared commitment to building a more inclusive, connected, and empowered community for all.

Celebrating Community Leadership at Our Lady of Sion Graduation.

On Wednesday, 15 October, Club President Wendy Zhang and Community & Youth Chair Malcolm Chiverton attended the Lady of Sion College Year 12 Graduation Mass and Ceremony.

During the ceremony, several special awards were presented to recognise students’ outstanding achievements. Our club was proud to sponsor the “Citizen Award”, which honours a student who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to community service.

The award includes a classic watch engraved with the recipient’s name and an invitation to participate in the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) — a five-day residential leadership development program designed to inspire and empower young leaders.

We extend our warm congratulations to all award recipients and best wishes to the graduating class as they embark on the next chapter of their journey.
