Dear

November is The Rotary Foundation Month

The Rotary Foundation helps Rotary members to advance world understanding, good will, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment and alleviating poverty.   Since it was founded for than 100 years ago, the Foundation has spent more than $4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects.

Through our Rotary District 9815, donations are made to the Rotary Foundation and invested for 3 years. After 3 years the funds come back to the District for the Clubs to make an impact in their communities and around the world.

The RC Box Hill Central, in partnership with Operation Toilets- we can't wait, has received Global Grants from the Rotary Foundation. We have received since 2015, 8 Global Grants to complete Projects in India and one in Ethiopia, where we help keep girls in schools by providing them with access to safe toilets and hygiene education. Safe toilets and hygiene education protect not just individuals – they safeguard entire communities.

Presently a Global Grant Toilets in Schools is underway in the Nashik Region, Maharashtra, India to provide toilets and handwashing facilities for five rural schools. See photos below.

We celebrate the Global Grant project Happy Learning Happy Schools,  just completed in Piplantri, Rajasthan, India. The project improved the sanitation and education in 6 schools, directly benefiting 571 students. The project delivered new toilets, handwashing stations, furniture, sports resources and classroom repairs.

Also, we have been the beneficiary of a 25/26 Rotary Foundation District Grant for the Development of the Whitehorse Community Shed Garden. The garden complements the Community Shed initiative by providing an outdoor space that can support community participation and connection.

As Rotary members, we share the same goal, to make meaningful change in communities around the world. We take on some of the world’s most difficult challenges to make a difference for the good of all.
  • Ending Polio
  • Promoting Peace
  • Fighting disease
  • Providing clean water
  • Supporting education
  • Growing local economies
  • Protecting the environment

At the RC Box Hill Central, we have a terrific month ahead of events and speakers. Come along and find your cause and get involved. Create a Lasting Impact.

November project of promotion is EndPolioNow.

Warmly,

Malcolm Chiverton
